What type of music comforts you?

I love listening to some soft jazz, I think the correct term is ambient jazz... Anyway, it's smooth enough I can fall asleep to, study to, carry a light convo with a family member over, and most important.... drift away to. Sometimes I feel that when I'm having a lower pain day I can mind over matter the pain to a minimum and jazz is definitely a good way to take my mind off my pain.

I really enjoy all music, too many artists to list them all here, but my husband's and my favourite at this time is Don Williams. He's doing a West Canada Tour this summer/fall and too bad for us his Tour is not coming west of Calgary and we live on Vancouver Island.

My husband plays drums for his and my enjoyment, also guitar. I have a guitar but have to get in the mood to try and play it, lol

Anyone hear the music of B-tribe....super!

Here are 'my guys' with one of my many favorites, 'Babylon Sisters'

Beautiful!

Wow Armando. You can pick 'em. This happens to be a very special song to me, for a long time now...forever. HA! Thank you, I haven't heard it for awhile. ((((( smiling )))))

I love all music honestly, but I find classical music to be the best for me when I’m super stressed out or am having a horrible pain day. I also listen to a LOT of country (cowgirl pride haha) and some gospel music.

I am a music lover. Love many different types. But I'd have to say, Im a country girl at heart. I probably listen to country the most. I do love James Taylor, Journey, The Lumineers, Train, Plain White T's, Adele. I like contemporary Christian too. Im not much on rap or Hip Hop though. That increases my pain, lol.

My new favorite song at the moment is that song called Ho Hey by the Lumineers. I don't know, it's just a fun song, and makes me feel better to sing along.

Oh I love those little girl singers too. Lennon and Maisy Stella. Such pretty voices!

And, I'll confess......sometimes I even listen to kids music, lol. Cause its just fun and light hearted. Whatever it takes to get thru the bad days!

HI I LIKE ALL KINDS OF MUSIC A FEW WEEKS AGO I HEARD AT CHURCH THE CHOSEN ONES FROM MANCHESTER ILLINOIS IS A 3-4 GENERATION FAMILY GROUP CHECK THEM OUT ON YOUTUBE

Two things of interest - #1) I recently found out that my 16-yr old daughter is a big Johnny Cash fan. Seriously, who knew? Certainly not her Johnny Cash loving father. #2) I was forced to call 911 on Monday. From Sunday through this morning, I could barely open my eyes, my blood pressure was through the roof, chills, hot flashes, unable to tolerate the smell or taste of food and it seemed that all I did was sleep despite the fact that each day felt like four. The only thing I could stand to listen to was Johnny Cash the American Recordings (these are the very last ones he ever recorded)..

I was shocked when my daughter asked me if I knew "Hurt" or "I Hung My Head"

Cool. That will be a wild crowd!

I love all types of music. At night I listen to zen or native American chants before falling asleep.

I love Celtic music!

Music is my feel good drug of choice and my top two artist are Bon Jovi and David Cook ( season 7 American Idol winner)

One of my favorite Bon Jovi song's cause it lets you know it's okay not to be perfect.

and one of my favorite David Cook songs, this song contains my favorite lyric ever "give me one more quiet night 'for this loud morning gets it right and does me in" ( who can't relate to wanting to escape into sleep)

I have very eclectic taste in music but Native American, country and classic rock are among my favorites. I like Kid Rock a bit just by default I think because I live in the same county. We have tons of music artists and venues here (metro Detroit but I'm way out on the outskirts in the burbs).

One of my favorites is Adam Lambert. I looooooooooooooooooove Adam. I also love KISS, Alan Jackson, Florence and the Machine, Ulali, Robbie Robertson, Black Lodge Singers, Time McGraw, Buffy Sainte Marie, and many more.

This is Ulali

This is Robbie Robertson. I do love his stuff with "The Band" but I love his native stuff more. The two cds to look for are Contact From the Underworld of Redboy and Music from the Native Americans. Those are the main two where he expressed his heritage through music.

This is Black Lodge. Old Macdonald Had a Farm like you've never heard it before lol. Black Lodge has at least one cd that's all kids songs but they have a lot of traditional stuff too.

Also, here is a free 24/7 online Native American radio station. They play any genre as long as the music is by a native artist. They do play traditional drums and flute music but also all kinds of tother things.

This is my favorite Adam performance from "Idol" though I do love some of his songs from albums after Idol was over. I loved every Idol performance of Adam's from Mad World. to Satisfaction, to Ring of Fire to Feeling Good

http://youtu.be/J6YyyD_4gwU

This is Feelin Good but if you look on the right side there is more of his Idol stuff there. One video has all of his Idol stuff but its over an hour long. Yes I'm nuts over Adam.

And this is my favorite Florence and the Machine song. She has an ethereal voice and sings with such passion. I like watching the ones taped live.

Oops I think I need to stop now lol. This is a great thread. Hugs to all who need one.

Obviously, people are going to have different opinions here. That's the point. But preferring Robbie Robertson's post-The Band efforts...uh, yeah, I'm going to disagree. First, thank you for mentioning The Band, one of my favorite groups, very underrated IMHO. Robbie Robertson's first solo effort (self titled) is incredible including classics "Broken Arrow", "Fallen Angel", "Showdown at Big Sky" and the immortal "Somewhere Down This Crazy River".

I have to admit that I'd not listened to his latest native american efforts and just spent about an hour on youtube doing so. Yea, I didn't feel it. Sorry. But that i why there is vanilla and chocolate.

Yep that's very true. I am Native American, so that makes a big difference as to why I like his native stuff the best, He really cares about his people so Robbie is well loved in the native community, especially in Canada where he's from. I've watched the aboriginal (they use that word and First Nations in Canada a lot) music awards and he's won many.I first heard Walela and Ulali when they collaborated with him. I didn't mention Walela before but they have beautiful stuff. I feel is native music deeply so yep definitely to each his own. It's a heritage thing with me though. I do have one other album by him though, well a cd. My son has all our old albums though, his dad's and mine.

I forgot to mention Redbone. They played after the powwow at one we went to several years ago, for just a small crowd of us. It was awesome. I've seen Joanna Shenandoah at a powwow here too. Love her music also. I love Carlos Nakai's flute music too but haven't listened to as much flute music, though some of our friends make them and play them. And I know it's a little off from what I've mentioned but I like some Bob Marley and some Rage Against the Machine. My brother is deceased and he loved them. The last concert I saw was a Tim McGraw concert but I can't go anymore sue to the health issues. I sure would love to see Adam Lambert in concert though lol.

Susan W

Wow! Steely Dan! It's been a while since I listened to them.

Nouveau Flamenco! I love it!

I finally saw them in concert about 10 years ago, though they are a studio band, with alternating musicians besides Fagen and Becker, they were fabulous, sounded just like their albums! Though I was fortunate to be born into such a great era of music, they are still my all time favorites!

Robbie Robertson, now there's a name you just don't hear often enough! I always loved 'The Band', and his solo stuff is magnificent! I just watched the recent R&R hall of fame, and he was the music coordinator.
