I've had extra leg pains the last few days, haven't done anything different to normal, now tonight my feet feel so hot and very tingly, like a million ants under my skin.
My legs feel the same, I went to bed an hour ago (it's 11.15pm here in UK) but have had to get up again, my legs are so restless and achy plus this tingling.
I've just sprayed them in the shower with cold water, to get some relief.
Sorry you are feeling so bad lately. I looked over your profile, and have to ask if you have anything with your spine that could be causing these nerves to be so aggitated? Had x-rays?MRIs lately to look at spinal cord?
Not sure if Gabapentin or Lyrica would be something the Doctor would recommend for you, but it's worth asking about. I did not do well on Tramadol either.
Wondering if you take Cal/Mag, this will strengthen the bones, and ease the muscles. Something else to ask about!
I'm not a medical professional, can only go by what has and hasn't worked for me, just thinking out loud in hopes of being some help to you. Hope that you can remedy this and feel better very soon!
I have developed phlebitis in my right leg. My mother also had phlebitis and the doctor said It seems to run in families. This is my regular family doctor. When he noticed that my legs were swelling, specially the one with phlebitis he prescribed compression stockings for me. They feel good on my legs.
I am not a person who is very active so I was not surprised when my legs started to swell.
Has no doctor prescribed compression stockings for you?
Lucy, I forgot to mention that my feet are always hot so before bedtime I take off my compression stockings and walk on the wood floors with my bare feet.
Also my body temperature is never consistent. For several years now when I go to bed I lie with no covers on me til my body cools down, maybe an hour before I pull the covers up.
Yes, I live with this. Not sure if its fibro or one of my other conditions but like you, I spray cold water on them. My Mom also has it, she and I also have lupus.Magnesium helps, as does vitamin B complex and D. Vit B heals nerve endings, vit D heals the whole nervous system.
Morning lucie , iam going through exactly the same , ive been putting cold compress on , having baths , my legs are heavy also I hope it eases soon been like this a week now , not had feelings so bad like this before in my legs xx
Gosh, what a difference in your feet, I'm so sorry this happens to you, it must be so uncomfortable.
At first, until I re-read your post I thought they were different feet!
Does it happen like this if you've been on your feet a lot that day, or in the evening? Do you take a diuretic/water tablet?
With my ex-nurses hat on, it look like fluid oedema. If you press your finger into the puffy area, does it leave a dent where your finger was? If so, that's known as pitting oedema, caused by fluid.
No, I've never had any issues with my back so I've not had any MRI's but I do have a malabsorption problem with vitamin D and therefore calcium too as the both are linked, I'm on mega doses of Vit d and calcium, my xrays of my legs and feet did show tiny tiny cracks in my bones due to the deficiency, which will hopefully heal once the Vit D levels improve, they should be 80-150 but mine were 9, now 24, so still a long way off normal ranges!!
Does Gabapentin/Lyrica work on nerves then? Gabapentin was mentioned by my pain consultant as something to consider.
I don't have any swelling or signs of phlebitis, but yes, like you my body temperature is not consistent, I at times uncover just my legs in bed, the top half needs the covers!! Ohhh it's most odd.
Yes, I'm on vit D but not vit B, will get some. My pain consultant said I've quite likely got nerve damage as a result of my severe nervous breakdown 3 years ago, I went through such emotional trauma for over a year, he said fibro is now the result of that.
Lucy, my compression stockings only come up to my knees. They are prescribed by my doctor and my legs are measured and these are sent off so that the stockings fit my legs and the amount of compression that I need. I don't know how helpful it would be to just go to a store and buy some support tights.
In Canada where I live our health care benefits program supplies us with three pairs per year. I pay nothing.
