Hi Boyce,
My Dr recommended stool softeners and I personally found probiotics and/or oat bran caps helped with the constipation, Savella is a great mood booster. Hope it is a success for you.
The falling is a big concern, I was just ready to ask if you had any bad spinal discs. Have you been to see a neurologist or neurosurgeon yet?
Boyce, I'm not a Dr, but went through this with my Mom, her back problems began with her taking care of her elderly Mother, having to lift her, and catch her from falling. One morning she got out of bed and everytime she took a step, she fell. Took her to the ER and she had back surgery the next morning. It really went well, the surgery was a total success, though I keep reminding her NOT to over do it when she thinks she can still work and lift like a superhero at 80!
Please get yourself to the right place and get this taken care of. Please listen to your body. Call your Dr, or better yet, get in there, and let him know what is going on and that you need help. Sometimes you have to ASK them more than once to take care of you, and sometimes you just need to INSIST! Be well!
Sending my best to you and yours,
SK
Hi Boyce,
I'm sorry you're experiencing these crazy symptoms. I don't know if it's the same thing, but I sometimes have horrible pain/ pins and needles/numbness/weakness/burning sensations in my legs. Sometimes it's just in the foot, sometimes it's in my shins on down, sometimes from the knee down... i've even had it from my hips all the way down, often on just one side, but I have had it on both. It has been so bad before that I literally could not walk for a couple of days and the pain was so severe and concerning even at rest that I went to the ER. I was told it was likely sciatica. They gave me a shot and some pain medicine and told me to go. My other doctors don't have anything to say about it. I wish they did.
I hope you and your doctor can figure out what's going on and provide some relief. I can understand that you'd be concerned about it. Let us know what you find out and hopefully it'll be good news.
Also wanted to mention my experience with Savella. I found it did help in the beginning, but soon ran into trouble with crazy, sudden mood swings that were severe enough that I had to go off them immediately. Several others from a support group I was in had similar experiences. My husband said I was like a different person and not in a good way. The women I talked to said they heard the same from their loved ones. Everything affects each of us differently, but just thought I'd throw that in there in case you run into any issues along those lines. I hope that the benefits outweigh the risks for you.
