He was moved to another shelter, off the beach. I heard on the news this was happening due to flooding, but he is safe and being taken care of. He is in the shelter with his neighbors that he has known and loved for about 10 years. None have been allowed back to their Island, but realize they may not have a home to go back to or a home fit to go back to.
He has taken Ben's Friends live, and is just so understanding about the children and about the people on the brink right now.
He has a temporary cell phone and would enjoy a brief call from you, just realize he goes to bed early and gets up early! He is homesick for his home and for us!
Our thoughts are with you at this dreadful time. We are thinking of you and send good wishes and hopes that you are well and truly cared for as you so deserve, and that you will be able to go back home. I also thank all those person who have helped you, and found it in their hearts to care for you. They are indeed wonderful people. My thoughts are with you during this difficult time.I think that you have the spirit and strength to deal with this awful situation, and hope to hear in the future that you are in a much better place. Kind thoughts and good wishes my thoughts are with you during this troublesome time. Take Care. cheers Barb.
Within my scope of friends and acquaintences, there are no others I know, but surely there were other BF members who went through this. Renie is still with off and on power and internet in upstate NY. Rachel is in snow in Canada, but okay.
We are as okay as we get, you know! How about you, girlfriend, how are you doing? Nice to see you on the boards, we miss you!
I've been intouch with Scott and because we're 5hrs infront of NJ ...i'll be ringing JC tomorrow for 2 or 3pm...so he's up and took meds etc...is it the redcross phone number where he's staying? :)
This number is a temporary cell phone (mobile) number, you will connect directly to JC! He would love to talk to you, I told him you were very worried about him and asked about him always!
We haven't had such severe weather here in Texas, but as you well know, that doesn't matter. I'm good right now, warm and dry. lol. I think your idea of taking up a collection for JC is a wonderful idea. Like Dee said, we all can't give much but if everyone gave some....
Oh that just breaks my heart to hear. I can't imagine having a nice, neighborly little island that suddenly gets swamped by ginormous freak waves that ruin your whole neighborhood, not just your home. Wow. I just hope that their homes can be salvaged or else they can rebuild there, if they want to. I'm not sure that I'd want to.
I'm so glad you spoke to JC and have told us how he's doing. I'm going to donate to him tomorrow, once I'm hopefully feeling better. I'm glad he's holding up well and I do hope that FEMA comes through for everyone. And that things can be put back together for JC and his neighbors.
I got intouch with JC at 10pm here so it would be 5pm where JC is...susan i said hello is that JC from LWL and he said yes, i said this is Terri from LWL, he said....oh no not Terri from over seas thankyou, i asked if he was ok and the same back etc...he's missing his internet and we all and said Ben's friend is good i said yes it is and before i came off the line....i said we all love you JC and miss you and he replyed i love you all to.
I just noticed that a call showed up from JC, so I called, he was in line to speak to FEMA in hopes of getting into a hotel or something, he said that no one could get back into their homes yet, I told him about all the gas line fractures, and of course there are structural inspections and mold to take into consideration, who knows how long that list is.
I told him I thought he should have top priority with disabilities, but he said there were many others in that category. It just figures that we were only able to speak a few moments before he was 'up' in line, so if I do not hear back from him later, I will call him.
