Good Morning All, Last night was my first time taking my new sleeping medicine Restoril (temazepam). I might have slept all of two hours. I know I need to give this several days to kick in but boy I'm just feeling funny. I can't explain the feeling but it's just not right. If any of you take this please let me know how you do with it please. Thanks and Hugs, Robin
I've never taken it, but found this online. Under "precautions", it tells you what weird stuff to watch out for while taking it (it looks like it does alter chemicals in the brain, so definitely be aware of that "feeling funny" you're having this morning).
I hope that passes and you manage to get some sleep with this.

Thanks again lol. It is appreciated, Robin
Hi Robin, I have that prescribed to me but I have been afraid to take it. How does it make you feel funny?

Temazepam is related to diazapam and is a benzodiazapeme... both are designed to help you relax. I find that it works really well but others I know cannot stand it... I guess it is just a personal thing as to which one works better xx
Thanks for the info Mike, I guess I need to give it time :)
Hi Robin! I've been talking on the boards about the klonopin I take. It's a Benzodiazepine like the Restoril. I was taking a higher dose during a very hard time emotionally, but my dosage is a little lower now. I've got to admit, I love the Klonipin. I don't know what the difference is between the one you're taking and mine is tho. And everyone has such different reactions to the meds, as we all know. Benzodiazepines relax the muscles and help with anxiety. I resisted starting to use it initially because it seemed like a pretty heavy medication and I just couldn't think of myself as being that dependent on drugs. But, I got over it. I take several others meds, and it seems to be a pretty good balance for me right now. It's taken several years to get the right combination. We've ruled out many drugs along the way. Lots of trial and error. Yes, I'm still a home-body unless grocery shopping or having coffee with a friend, still have the fog, still have pain, still get nothing done that I want to do, but I sleep at night. I am so thankful for that. Without sleep I don't know what I'd do. My sleep pattern has changed. I go to sleep later and get up later than I used to. When I started on the Klonipin I didn't feel funny like you're describing tho. You know better than anyone else what works and what doesn't. Maybe give it another night??? Can you reduce it? If you don't like it call your doc on Monday and ask for another option.
Also, keep a log of what meds do and do not work for you and why. It can be real helpful to have in the future. We tend to forget these things as time goes by and I don't always trust my doc to remember either. I just keep a running list on a document in my computer.
I hope the funny feeling passes too. Sleep well tonight. Sweet dreams.
L
PS I always say too much!
its worked for me for 5 years-take it every nite.
L kitty, You could never say to much on here, Thanks for sharing and the funny thing is I have been on klonopin for years and years. I can't take it with the restoral. I always start to log things than I forget and it becomes less and less. My feeling funny lasted about 2 hours so maybe tonight and in the morning will be better. Hope you have a good night, Hugs Robin
Great, cross your fingers for me :)
