Newley diagnosed...any advice?

Hi everyone I am new to the group and I was just diagnosed with fibromyalgia last week. I am just wondering if anyone has any advice on how to deal with this? Also if anyone has any tips on how to make it threw a normal workday when your in a lot if pain and fatigued? I currently work a full time desk job but its really difficult to make it threw the day when I am always so tired and hurting. Any tips or advice would be greatly appreciated

Hi Danielle,

k is right, were you prescribed any meds is a good place to start? I don't see any mention of any on your profile. Cymablta, Savella, Lyrica, Neurontin? Any of those?

To pull up past discussions here on living with fibro, just click on discussions, and there is a search engine at the top left of the page, if you type in something like 'the definition of fibromyalgia', you come up with 27 discussions on the topic.

It's a good place to begin.

It would also be of great help to you and your Doctor to keep a running list of symptoms, this will help with prescribing the correct med. Make sure you tell the Dr about any sleep problems that you may be having, most of us have trouble getting to sleep and staying asleep at night, yet want nothing more than to lay down throughout the day!

Learn all you possibly can, the more you know, the better care you will receive!

Wishing you well,

SK

He put me on Amitriptyline...has anyone tried that?

I work a desk job and I get up and walk around every once in a while, that does help me a lot. I am blessed that my boss does not have a problem with me doing that. I can not take cymbalta or lyrica,do I take Lexapro and tramadol for the pain. Right now these seem to help me a lot. I also had a sleep study done and now use a cpap. Just a few things I do, hope it helps you. Blessings Sue
