Hi Gwendolyn, I am sorry to hear you are having a tough time with pain. Have you talked with your doctor about this? Sounds like an exam or a medication adjustment might be needed, only your doctor can determine that however. What things are you doing to try to relieve it? I don't get a lot of neck pain but I do have shoulder pain, Epsom salt baths help some with that. I also use Salon Pas patches for temporary pain relief and I use ice packs on my shoulders sometimes. I am sure others here will have suggestions as well. Hang in there and keep us updated. Hugs!!
I take a few medicines that address the pain at night and in the early hours of am. One is advil pm. If I am having a bad flare I take my tramadol. If it is seems really unbearable I add a low dose of Ativan (.5mg) they can make you sleepy in the morning but I found that if the advilpm allows me to get a solid 8hours I feel alert and ready to tackle my day when I get up
Hey Gwendolyn,
I am so sorry to hear about your pain. Are you on any medications that help? Have you tried stretching at all?
I know what its like to have pain that keeps you up at night, for me it usually severe nerve pain in my lower back and legs that feels like searing and horrible gnawing pain all in one. No matter which way I roll or turn I can't find comfort and it brings me to tears. I guess by sharing this I am saying in my own way that I understand what it is like to have pain keep you awake and I'm so sorry you are going through it - you are not alone.
Please feel free to vent any time, or if you ever need anyone to talk to you can always message me :)
Blessings and prayers
yes I am on gabapentin 600mg and I take venlafaxine
Try soaking in the tub with Epson salt ,listen to music and turn from side to side if you Dont have a bath pillow just roll up a towel to support your neck
Hi Gwendolyn,
How are you doing? Were any of the suggestions helpful?
Hi Gwendolyn, I am so sorry to hear you are suffering. It is bad enough to have the pain during the day but when it is starting to affect our sleep it may be time to talk to the doc. We all need that healing rest and I struggle sometimes at night with the pain. I take gabapentin as well and I will take Tylenol night time, it helps me to sleep and helps me with the pain. I use a combination of heat and ice as well. Acute pain I tend to use ice and for tight muscle pain I use heat. I also use a massage cushion in a chair for shoulder and back pain. I find it helps get the blood flowing and that seems to alleviate pain sometimes. I strongly encourage you to speak to your doctor and hopefully they can prescribe something more that can help. Please talk them even when introducing OTC drugs as even these drugs can interact with the meds we are on. I hope you get some relief soon. Hugs and keep us posted.
Hi Singingtrees,
Talking to the doctor is a good idea. I did forget that some meds can interact with others.

Thank you all for taking the time to care God Bless you all
Yes. The back pain also includes my hips to where I toss and turn to relieve a side for awhile. I had pain blocks done and they helped but only last a few months. I can tell when its wearing off because my back hurts sweeping and standing at the kitchen sink to wash a few dishes.
Please keep us updated, Gwendolyn! You are in good company of other fibro fighters!
