For the past couple of weeks, I seem to have a rapid heart rate a lot of the time. This occurs after only walking a few steps and I also feel winded. Even when I get up in the morning, by the time I walk down the hall (about 10 steps) I can feel my heart rate accelerating. I started taking Nortriptyline 4 weeks ago and I don't know if this is due to that or the Fibro. Does anyone experience this? Rapid heart rate is on the side effects list of the med (I just checked it) but I don't know if it is that or Fibro or what. I don't take any other routine medications other than Prilosec. I don't really want to email my doctor if I don't have to, I am trying really hard to be patient and give the medication time to work (I haven't seen benefit yet - it is more for nerve pain that I have). Thanks.
Thanks. My doctor is out for 2 weeks but I got in today to see another doctor. She did an EKG which came out ok. She decided and I agree it is best to go off the med. Unfortunately she didn't listen to my concerns about pain management. So I guess I will have to wait for my doctor to return later this month. I just hope I can get some sleep tonight as I am in desperate need of sleep. I have only been able to sleep about 6 hours in the last 48 hours. The pain keeps waking me up. Which I told the doctor today.
i am glad that you got in to see another doctor. I agreed with the others that you needed to be seen. never mess with any heart type of symptoms. sending you my wish for all the best to you and big HUGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGS
Contact doc fast as rapid heart rate with exertion is one sign of heart problems..Most likely meds but make sure o.k..I can say over the 25 yrs i've had this i have had many side effects and just plain weird symptom/conditions such as one time i washed my hands at work and was yak'in at the other guys as they washed up so we could go to chow, well when i went to walk my entire left side had gone numb and could not move..I literally stood there while they went to eat..After about 20 minutes was able to sit down own the garage floor....Weird stuff,,God bless wayne
Thanks. I am currently not on any meds. I did go buy Salon Pas yesterday to try. Once my doctor gets back I am going to see about a muscle relaxer. Sleep is my main issue right now. Lack of adequate sleep causing more pain. I barely got 3 hours last night.
Thanks for asking. My rapid heart rate has improved as I am titrating off the Nortriptyline. Now if I could only sleep . . . I have always had chronic sleep issues even as a kid. I haven't taken anything in years for it, mainly because in the past the sleep meds didn't really help me. My current doctor wanted me to try Melatonin first. Of course it isn't helping. But I am keeping a sleep journal now so he can see for himself. Thanks Avenk for asking, I appreciate it. HUGS.
