Shame we can't meet up!

Since I joined this group in June I have so valued everyone's comments and advice, enjoyed reading the profiles and getting to know you all, some of you quite well who are regular users of this site, like myself.

I don't know anyone around me or nearby that has this, so you are all my fibro friends.

I just wish we weren't so spread out, I would love to bake some enormous fattening cakes and have you round for coffee!!

PS..... I'm only an hour away from Gatwick or Heathrow Airports, London !!!

Love Lucy xx

Hi Lucy,

Oh some of us have dared talk of a BF convention, and I imagine that it would be a lot of fun. I do not travel well, so that puts me out right away! That said, I've always planned to visit the UK, fattening cakes and tea are right up my alley! Surprised to hear coffee, rather than tea from a Brit! ha! I'm one of the very rare Americans who dislike coffee!

Would love to meet all of you, imagine the fun we would have!

Hi SK,

Yes I put coffee as that's what most of you would like, I thought! But, like you I don't like coffee, plus it makes my heart race!! I've been told that my cakes are good though!!

Not sure I could travel to the US, my anxiety etc, lol.....plus my friend goes quite a lot and is very put out that she is no longer able to knit on flights, knitting needles are considered a potentially offensive/harmful weapon, in the wrong hands, apparently....she had them taken off her once and given back at the end of the flight !!

Lucy xxx

Oh how absurd about the knitting needles! This has all just gone too far! If the intent is malicious, then there are no bounds to the harm that can be inflicted with ANY item!

Yes, tea, your good cake and meeting up would be so very nice! We can dream!

Maybe can catch a free military flight over but no telling when I would get back home to my family. Remember our time in Germany, gained 20 lbs from the sweet cakes and breads. I'll be there if we get together. Oh I love tea, coffee, soda, water, and of course a nice glass of wine. :)

You bet, FRANCE, sooner or later there would be wine! I could go for a bottle of Riesling or Merlot! It's been ages!

My daughter has a wish list of places she wants us to go after she finishes college several are here in the US. Greece is on the top of the list then different places in the UK. It would be great if we could get together.

My daughters mom-in-law is British. She just got back from a visit. Oh, I would love to see England. I'd love a little Dowton Abbey kind of history lesson.

I've got to say though, if I were in England it would be all about the tea. Oh, we would have fun.

Lucy, you're a gem.

Kitty

Hello Purplebutterfly,

Well just let me know when your daughter finishes college and wants a trip to the UK, I'm 40 minutes from central London, so handy for all the sights! Not that I go all that often, there's a lot of walking!!! But she'd love the markets like Camden, Portobello Road, Piccadilly Arcade, Notting Hill etc, the fashions and accessories are amazing.

Hi Kitty,

My Husband would be the one to show you round then, he used to be a lecturer in Architectural History at a Uni here.

He used to conduct tours round London and oxford for exchange students from The US.

And yes a BIG mug of tea !!! Not these dainty little cups, I like a BIG mug of it !!

I once had afternoon tea at The Ritz, amazing!! But cost more than a week's groceries !!!

Lucy xx

Love it! Your husband sounds great too.

He's a Church of England Priest now !!

"More tea, Vicar ?"!!!!!!

Good for you that you went! I'd go hungry for a week to go to the Ritz too! LOL! I'd need a wardrobe update too, that would probably be much more than a week's groceries!

Kitty, Highclere Castle is not far from London!

Lucy, your husband sounds as interesting as you are!

Hi Lucy, I am only an hours flight from Heathrow. Anywhere with yummy cakes sounds good !!

I have met a lot of lovely people through my voluntary work, and made lots of new friends, but its great to have contact with lovely people like yourself xx

Lucy if coming to Europe I'm gonna have to get a bottle of ice wine. What is shipped over to the states is not the good stuff. When I hurt trust me like my hot bath and glass of wine.

I'm sure you are correct about the best wines, you're in a great place for the nectar of the Gods!

LOL!! Don't I know it. Right before we left to come stateside we did a wine tasting tour. By midway through, nobody even cared about our kids when they cried.

I know, I am fortunate to have visited Napa valley several times, and it doesn't take long for those little sips to kick in! What a 'happy experience'!

BTW Lucy, even though I have yet to make it to the Ritz for tea, I do have he book!
