Does anyone suffer with teeth sensitivity? Just over the last few days my teeth ache. I goggled It and did find others have had this with fibromyalgia. Everyday is a new painful treat.
yes I do very bad......it seems to be worse with citrus juice, sweets or cold....try sensodine toothpaste seems to help me.
WOW! I have sensitive teeth as well but I had no idea it could be the fibro. I never thought to research it. I just thought I had sensitive teeth just like "regular people". Thanks for the info, and your right, everyday brings something new!!
Oh yes, but I always have had so don't know if it's fibro related or not. I use toothpastes designed for sensitivity and they help. They don't work completely but make the sensitivity manageable.
Hope this is of some help to you.
Yeah. Everyday is something new. But I found many who suffer this with our condition. Nerve related. I will try the toothpaste because it is really bothering me. What next?
OMGoodness! I am sooooo glad you asked that! My teeth are unbelievably sensitive. I'm using a sensitive toothpaste you can only get through a dentist. I put a few dots in a night guard and wear it to bed and still have pain! All it does it irritate my gums. I cannot imagine what my teeth would be like if I didn't use it. I was always told that it was because I had an idiot for an orthodontist????? Who knows?!
yes sensitive toothpastes do help quite a bit for me at least, good luck :)
I never had sensitive teeth until I got injured at work
Might be a med side effect
That could be possible too, my brother doesnt have fibro but super sensitive teeth because of a quack orthdontist.....so it could be a combination
Try some peppermint extract, it might sting like hell at first but sometimes helps me long term. Good luck
Never heard about peppermint extract, I'll have to try it. I love peppermint! Thanks!
helps me sometimes but it could sting alot at first
KVH, I am glad you started this Discussion.
Yes, I certainly do have teeth sensitivity and it can get very painful. I have often wondered if I have TMJ. The it disappears for a few days, but it always returns.
But then my teeth have always been sensitive to hot or cold things.
It's puzzling. Let's see how many respond to this Discuussion. Sometimes we learn from other's experiences.
I have had gum pain under my bottom bridgework for years but thought it was related to my chronic sinus infections. My dentist xrayed my gums and told me that my nerves in my teeth go up to my sinus line - I know any pain nerve related is so mush more intense because of fibro. Anyone experience bad reflux or indigestion. Mine has gotten worse over the past couple of years Even though a recent endoscopy revealed no disease or erosion. I am trying prilosec now after cheaper over otc acid reducers are not working. Keep fingers crossed.
Very interesting information Froggy.
I have not gone to my dentist for quite awhile. When I was working I went every year, but then I started having so much terrible pain that I am now avoiding a trip to the dentist. I have enough pain in my teeth without inviting any more. I would take my pain med before my visit. Sometimes that seemed to help, but no help if I needed a filling.
As for acid reflux, if you read current information concerning the symptoms of fibro you will find that GERD is on the list. I have had this GERD for many years, but the last few years it is getting worse. It is happening more often and the duration of excrusiating pain is lasting longer. And the Gaviscon that my doctor told me to take long ago no longer is very helpful. I have also been prescribed Prevacid twice daily. When I talked about this with my current doctor he changed the Prevacid to Tecta and arranged for me to see a specialist who would arrange for me to have an endoscopy. I have had the consultation with the specialist who is arranging for not an endoscopy but a gastronoscopy?? I have forgotten exactly the name of this because he just mentioned it to me in passing. I am a visual person so I need to see the word in order to remember it. So, I'm waiting for the ?? He said it would be at least two months before I could expect an appointment.
So, Froggy, we will have to see what happens down the road with new medication.
Or a fibro thing, Wendy Anne. Seems like a lot of fibro people have this issue. Dunno why.
Rachel, that is worth investigating further and I'm glad you're doing just that. I'm no fibro expert by far but it doesn't seem to me that excruciating pain from GERD is fibro-related. Not pain to that extent, no. So please let me know the end result of your gastronoscopy, if you'd like. And good luck with that test.
