Although not formally diagnosed with Fibromyalgia, I am believed to have this condition and am currently having RA ruled out after four years of treatment for it. I currently have a viral infection which feels more like flu and wondered if anyone else often experiences the same symptoms?
Swollen glands
Sore ribs
Headache
Nausea
Chesty cough
Fatigue
Fever
Entire body aches and pains.
I’m really worried because I have been off work for two days and still don’t feel fit to return to work! I have not been to see a gp because I am already on several medications, which including cocodamoll, so don’t think that I will be provided with anything else! However have spoken ti a gp on the phone who has confirmed this and suggested that I may have an upper respiratory tract infection. I feel rough and frustrated that my rheumatologist has also postponed my next appointment again. I just wondered if anyone can advise me?
I was in bed for 3weeks with these symptoms told it was viral which flu is but my own doc gives me antibiotics for because of my immune system but this doc never I feel for u not gd at all I finally felt bit better last week but last couple days I feel sick all the time Mb another trip to docs hope u get better quick and fast hugs x
Hi
I often feel this way. The doctor may give you a work excuse to be of work a little longer if you do go into see him. Is their another rheumatologist in your area? I hope you feel better soon. It can take a while to get over the flu.
Hi Nicola, I am sorry you are feeling this way. When I have symptoms that persist (aside from the normal Fibro symptoms I have) I contact me MD. Sounds like it might be time to at least call your doctor's office again to see if they want to see you or if there is something else you can do to feel better. I had to take my daughter to the doctor yesterday and she was diagnosed with an upper respiratory infection and her pediatrician gave her one dose of a steroid medication and she already appears to be feeling better and the coughing is lessening. Anyway, I sure hope you feel better quickly and consider talking to your doctor again about this. Hugs!!
Hello Nicola,
Sorry to hear you are suffering, and some of your symptoms sound like Fibro. It is important to get sleep with this condition, and this can sometimes ease the pain as well. My doc prescribed amitriptylene for this, quite a few people with fibro seem to take this. I know docs in England reluctant to prescibe antibiotics, but I think a trip to the docs would be worthwhile to help you manage this condition better. Good luck
Take care, Anne
I am currently going through these same symptoms. I just finished my semester so I wonder if it’s more likely a fibro flare. Going from 65 to freezing rain within 12 hours didn’t help either. I am not one that likes to take medication, but I may need to give in and get some relief. I hope you feel better soon!
