Lucky you....I would LOVE to have a bath but I've lost sooooo much strength in my arms that I'm unable to get OUT of the tub now. That's even with a grab-bar that is clamped onto edge of tub...nope...still can't pull myself up and out. I wonder if anyone else here is losing their muscle strength OR losing their muscles like I am. I've tried exercising my arms with those large rubber exercise bands but then I get more sore than usual.
Wow, it sure is! But it surely wouldn't be safe for you to be in there if you don't have the strength to get in and out.
It's too bad you can't get one of those tubs that has a little door on the side that you open and walk in to. Then you close it again when taking a bath.
I really feel for you, Geranium! To be denied the luxury of a simple bath is cruel.
A friend of mine got one of those tubs you speak of......at first she quite liked it but now complains that it takes soooooo long to drain that she is half frozen by the time she can open that little door to get out.
I contacted one of the manufacturers about this problem and was told they have had numerous complaints for the same reason. He said they are now going to make them with TWO drain holes.....but then of course that will require some revised plumbing. Yet another expense..eh?
yep....ooh for the luxury of that once simple bath.
Michelle, funny you should ask that now because I am in the 3rd day of dizziness. On day one I was in the washroom and apparently passed out onto the floor. And as if that wasn't enough I busted my ankle and foot when I fell and am now using a walker to get around - because I fell between wall and toilet and had to twist to get up. I usually don't have it this bad, but usually attribute any dizziness to the medications.Maybe try and keep a journal to find out if there is a pattern of some kind or if you get after a certain pill? Well, that is my contribution. Did the doctor have any comment as to why this might be happening to you?
That suckeroonies!! I pass out too but I haven't hurt myself that bad in a while. I think I have wiped out a few brain cells though, which is a shame coz there's not many of them left.
Does anyone with the dizzies have high or low blood pressure?
I think pain plays a big part, esp when our pills are so crap they're not worth getting out of bed for!! Thanks docs! That was defo worth going to college and uni all that time! Not! lol. Maybe they skipped a few lessons all at the same time to smoke a marijuana joint or ten?
Blessings, Jo! Noice - definitely - I can watch TV but loud voices or noice makes my head and heart pound. . . light is another one for me - if there is any light in the room I have to cover my eyes. . . dizziness - definitely - I have even fallen on my face - right now I have a lot of scrapes and scratches because I went to save some puppies born in the dirt, wood and other stuff! I'm praying for all of us - this is definitely not easy. . . I have missed a lot of my family reunions because of the noise and my husband drives me crazy on Sundays when he put his loud music. . . my son during the week - they love very loud music - they have the equipment to do so! I love you all - hang in there - please pray for me as well - I am 61 - I don't look sick - at least when I go out but everything hurts, specially my shoulders, my hands, my head. . . take care - you are number one! Irma (weather - we have been close to 90 - horribe for me - I sweat a lot and then I cannot do anything even if I have energy. . . Spring is my favorite season but this year it seemed to me we just had summer!
Oh good Gawd, that' TERRIBLE JoJo! Absolutely terrifying! And the bathroom is the worst place to fall, with all of that hard porcelain and tile. You are seriously lucky that you didn't kill yourself or hit your head in there. But I'm so sorry for you that you busted your ankle and foot. Wow, that's incredible and scary. I can easily see doing it too.
JoJo, do you use a cane? I do. There are some absolutely adorable ones available and online places that carry them, as well as some drug stores. I got one that's got all kinds of colors - looks like a work of art - Peter Maxx. I would suggest that you get one - maybe a fold up one - for instances where you start feeling dizzy. I wish I'd purchased the fold up kind, so it'd be easy to bring anywhere.
At any rate, my thoughts are with you and hope this doesn't ever happen to you again.
Blood pressure, now that's an odd topic, Jo. Sometimes when mine gets read, it's almost high enough to take meds for. Other times it's low/normal. I'm starting to wonder if FIBRO is affecting our blood pressure too. So many of us have talked about this. Do we get spikes of high and low blood pressure when we're dizzy? I think so. I've darned well seen the proof in the doctor's office and been stumped about it because my blood pressure has always been very normal to even low.
Okay, making this a new thread. Gonna copy and paste this and see what others have to say. Wondering if the blood pressure might cause the heart pounding stuff too.
Oh, Irma, I'm so sorry about your face. But the puppies are definitely worth a scrape or two. Bless you for saving them or doing your best to! How are you and they doing? I hope all are doing better now.
Yes I think it could be caused by high or low blood pressure, and I have had some pretty "interesting " experiences with my heart the last few days. Yes, the heart pounding definitely brings high pressure too.
My dad has serious heart problems and some of my symptoms really freak him out. (Not the only one! I have to think whether to call the docs or an ambulance sometimes - or a flipping mental health team lol).
I don't want to waste medical professionals time, but we may get caught out one day with a real problem and it will be too late. I can't remember who, was it Allergic?, who got rushed to hospital with a bleed on the brain recently. She tried to ignore the headache and dizziness and nearly lost her life! Bless her...
While those around us can’t stop living their lives, they can give us some peace. It seems you need to have a pow wow with your family and establish quiet time during your day. You also need a Sunday decibel control. The level is obviously too high.
They have to understand. If not, there are many letters to family members of fibro all over the place. Someone on here may know a specific site. Good luck Jo.
I also seem to be dizzy, run into things constantly and often feel like my brain is not in my head!!! I'm thinking this is a normal fibro thing but is anything with fibro really normal? How does everybody try dealing with it?
