SK, glad to know you made it through but sorry to hear you are in so much pain. Let is know how you come along.
Yaaa it stopped raining here, Ah gee just as I typed that it started again, this grey, rainy, windy weather is doing a number on me, as it all of us. My son was in an accident last night ( he is ok ) but I’m sure that stress, along with having the car towed, getting up early to get the damage report and a rental, all has me feeling worse, not to mention the thought of the money, but I’m so greatful he is ok & thank god my sleep study got canceled bec of the storm. Like I told my son we have to pick ourself up dust off and thank God for the positive !!
Hope everyone is doing ok,
SK I know you are exhausted from all this And the flood oh that horrible , but have you heard how JC did? He is in New Jersery right ?
Hoping for sunny days ahead
Hugs & blessings
No, not heard from JC, guess he is still in the shelter. He lives on the Jersey shore, so perhaps, it is not safe to be on the roads yet. Gov Christie is being very cautious, which is only wise.
Yes, everyone is exhausted here but the grandson, and he is in crisis about discovering that Sponge Bob has been taken off the air! He is also worried about trick or treat being cancelled, not sure about it yet! High anxiety here right now!
I've been thinking of you and Renie and JC, knowing how close you all were to the center of the storm. I worried that things would be pretty bad in your homes and I was right. That storm was awful! I cannot imagine it on your end, SK, because the wind here was howling and was going non-stop in a manner which I've never seen, not even in Florida. Looking at the photos of the hit places just tears at my gut. Apparently the wreckage goes from Rhode island on down to Florida and beyond. I'm so glad that everyone in your family is okay but PLEASE tell your husband to take it easy. That kind of stress is really bad for the heart, with the physical activity piled on too. You too, SK.
Meanwhile i'm glad the grandbaby is only upset about Spongebob. Thank goodness for some miracles. Nice that wee ones don't grasp the enormity of some of these things.
I pray your flare dies down now that the storm has passed. I guess the barometric pressure in the storm's center hit an all time low, so no wonder you are in so much pain, SK. Cold darned, comfort, I know. I'm just so relieved that you're relatively okay that the rest hasn't sunk in yet.
The storm's unrealistic aspect, being so monstrous in size and merging with another storm, plus all of the damage to places that you think of as being forever there, untouched, has left me feeling dazed. That plus the death of a driver who worked with a sister company of ours, when he was only 38, has thrown me for a loop. He was a really good guy. He worked hard and would help you and not bitch about things being wrong, etc. I feel so badly because almost the last time we spoke, I said I'd bring him some hot coffee out from the office to fend off the chilly day but the coffee was cold so I couldn't get him any. He was a really good guy. This just shouldn't happen to young, good guys. I hope he doesn't have young kids at home.
Stay well, take care of yourself and write when you can!
Petunia
Again, I'm so sorry about your son's car accident, Dee but i'm just so glad to know that he's okay. And this is what we pay the insurance co's for, to take care of us when there's a problem.
No wonder you're aching aching aching, so much to deal with! You're doing well though, to still be upright and writing to us in your spare time.
i hope the rest of today goes smoother and you can relax again after all of this. Fingers crossed!
Ooh, Jersey Shore got pummeled. I know that some towns, like Seaside Heights, were completely underwater, as of last night, so he may still be at the shelter (hope not.)
Absolutely agree about Gov. Christie, he may be abrasive but he gets the job done in a crisis. Unlike the mayor who told people in his beach community that they didn't have to evacuate and could stay in the shelters (some of which subsequently flooded.) Oh, hope JC wasn't in one of them!!
Thanks angel that and reassuring him that we can still purchase ole Sponge Bob on discs made him smile! Grandson says, "Sponge Bob has been great for many years, we won't forget him, thanks for the picture!"
NO he told us on the Lupus site he was going, the evacuation was mandatory, said he would take Ben's Friends 'LIVE'! We will hear from him as soon as he can possibly get to us.
I hope so! And I'm GLAD his evac was mandatory; can't imagine having one where people can choose, because dollars to donuts, at the last minute as the storm bears down on them, they want OUT.
Horrible storm!
Little kids rock!
Thanks Petunia, ya it’s a lot, also when I told him he had to pay the $500, deductible he said he would have to move back home, he only works 2 days a week bec of school, he shares an apt with 3 other college students, I think I just got my house cleaned from when he moved out in sep. yikes, I didn’t do a very good job teaching him to clean up after himself, he was here last night & my house is already a mess. Well it will work out, he just has to realize, I’m not cleaning up after him, and when I don’t feel good I can’t cook either. He is 19, time to learn that mommy can’t do everything anymore, he really does not understand what I go through, I guess a talk might help, especially since I used to pay for everything, well not his apt. But the car insurence will go up, trying to not stress, sorry I’m venting.
Thank you
Hugs
Praying for JC, hoping that his apartment is livable. Millions of apartments//homes won't be livable. 6 million without power. One of the Shelters also got flooded, I hope it wasn't JC's. I don't know if the gov't can afford to help 60 million people with millions who can't go back and live in their homes. This will be a hardship for the US gov't too. I hope people will be able to vote in their own jurisdictions. It might be delayed to allow people to get absentee ballots mailed in from wherever they are staying. I am so grateful for the low incidences of injury and death through the worst storm here ever.
Sponge Bob reruns will be on no doubt.
Hi Everyone..
Just FYI - my boyfriend lives and works right on the beach outside of Atlantic City. (Absecon Island) He tried to drive over there today but it's still off limits. Apparently there's quite a bit of damage along the beach.. garage doors that were torn off, parts of the boardwalk are gone, damage from flooding of course and who knows what else. All his jobs are there.. (He has a plumbing/remodeling business). It's a very affluent area.. with many beautiful multimillion dollar properties. Alot of solid brick homes.. but still.. the windows are probably blown out in many area's and all that water damage from the ocean and the bay.. yikes!
I'll keep you guys posted when I hear that it's habitable again. I know that many of you are concerned about JC - so I just thought I'd tell you what I know.. ( sorry it's not much!)...
I'll ask Bobby to fill me in when he's allowed over there.
I pray that everyone got thru it safely... going to continue to read on here to see.
( here in Pgh.. just rain. and some high winds.. nothing major)
It IS frustrating isn't it? My daughter smashed up my almost brand new ( used) Volvo within months of getting her license.. everyone was ok. ( and put dents in ALL my wheels which were perfect when I bought the car) and my BF's daughter has had 4 accidents and she's only 23 ( one was a totalled car - and just 2 days ago.. wrecked His lease by rear-ending a couple. We're still waiting to see if they're going to sue for pain/suffering) I wish "I" could sue someone for MINE !!
Did you happen to watch the Long Island Medium? Or is it the New Jersey Medium? that blonde lady.. Theresa last nite? Her daughter had TWO accidents in ONE week! They sent her to driver's class. which they attended too. Of course she picked up on "spirit" there and embarrased her family once again!
I do think it's a good idea.. and helps a little bit with insurance; and might just help prevent another accident.
Well.. MY house is a disaster area and I didn't even get hit with SAndy.. it got hit with SHELLY!
but 2morrow is another day. I had finals today and I'm spent.
Going to "crash"... but not on the beach...
Shelly
Oh yes, we already have 3 seasons on disc. Guess we'll be getting more of them. Amazon is my best friend, keeps me from having to ride in the car!
thanks for the prayers, Nan, there will be many who need those!
Still raining here, that is our big threat, the rain!
The weather channel keeps showing more pictures and videos of the storm. Appears trick or treat is cancelled! Another blow to my 10, nearly 11 year old 'pre-teen' as he calls himself, grandson! The young just cannot wait to get old! ha! Well, as usual, he won the cut throat Monopoly game! Good thing!
They are now giving them so many chances to get out, a time line is drawn, if they choose to stay after a certain time, no first responders will help them. I think it was important to put this in place!
Though I am in Western MD, I am not in the area getting pounded with 26 inches of snow, with no let up in sight! Those people are in trouble! Our very near neighbor or WV is also being hit by snow in the mountains, is having roof collapses from the heavy snows! Makes my heart hurt to think of what they are going through, and may not be able to even get out to a shelter!
Rachel, glad to see you on, did you feel the quake?
